2014 Vacation, Day 1

Normally this post would go in the "Too" blog but as we have left town to go on vacation and as this is Day 1, it will get posted here.  Skip this if you are here to see pictures of our travels in the south.

We left home this morning about 8 am and came straight to Mo.  Himself had two projects in mind, well actually three projects to do in one day.  So he did one of them and I did the other two!  ha  So much for just doing what we want in Retirement.  I'm just teasing him now.  This main #1 project is getting a new Hot Water Heater in.  We have been back to only COLD water this spring as the Hot Water on Demand heater bit the dust; froze up.  We bought a new heater, one to install inside the cabin this time -- hopefully this will protect the heater.

So, to accomplish Hot Water, my main goal today is to do whatever I can to free him up so he can install the water heater.  And what I can do for him to free him up to install the water heater is to do his other two projects for him.  I have been spoiled!  I want my hot water back!

Project #2 - Mow.  It is April.  It is not even hot.  The grass is not that tall.  However, we will be away 10 days or so and the grass does look a little ragged so Himself starts me off and I finish up.  It is a nice day and I enjoy the time on the mower and I go up and mow Vi's and that makes her day.

Project #3 - Plant lilies.  Let me rephrase that.  Plant lilies on a steep bank.  Plant 160 lily bulbs on a steep bank with a sore ankle.

So this 4 gallon bucket of bulbs

Needs to go on that bank over there, between the big trees.

And they all fit!
And it only took me about an hour.
I bent over only about 480 times --

Dig a hole.
Put in a bulb.
Cover the bulb with dirt.

I sure feel it tonight in my back but next spring when those lilies come up and bloom I will sure be glad I planted them.  And Himself will be glad too as he won't have to mow that bank ever again.

And meanwhile, Himself was busy and productive and creative and we have hot water!!!

Meet our new best friend.

Now the mess is cleaned up, the tools put away, the floor swept.
68 degrees outside and it is Porch Time!
Tune in tomorrow for Day 2 of the Perils of Pauline.

Hope you got all of your "chores" done and can get further south. Although, I suppose there's no rush. . . it's not like you have to get back!! LOL!!!

I am ready for gulf, ocean, plantation house, old south, Spanish moss too! We are in Arkansas and it is starting to feel like a foreign country but we have another state or two to get there.

that's right, Erica. We don't have a deadline. I am thinking we will be out 2 weeks. Your dad is thinking 10 days . . . we have adventures ahead!
