If you go out in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go out in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go out in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.
For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.
Beneath the trees, where nobody sees
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic
The little teddy bears are having a lovely time today.
Watch them, catch them unawares,
And see them picnic on their holiday.
See them gaily dance about.
Watch them, catch them unawares,
And see them picnic on their holiday.
See them gaily dance about.
They love to play and shout.
And never have any cares.
At six o'clock their mommies and daddies
Will take them home to bed
Because they're tired little teddy bears.
And never have any cares.
At six o'clock their mommies and daddies
Will take them home to bed
Because they're tired little teddy bears.
If you go out in the woods today,
You'd better not go alone.
It's lovely out in the woods today,
But safer to stay at home.
You'd better not go alone.
It's lovely out in the woods today,
But safer to stay at home.
For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic
Every teddy bear, that's been good
Is sure of a treat today
There's lots of wonderful things to eat
And wonderful games to play
Bella Bu! You get down right now!
Beneath the trees, where nobody sees
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic

Like the poem!
when I was a wee girl, my folks had an old record player with maybe 7 old records. You've all see the old wind up Victorla's? in the museum? This player wasn't that old but was the next generation. With just a few records, you can well imagine how many times they got played; repeated! I remember a couple of the records. one, I'll take you home again, Kathleen. (look that up on google and see the age!) and "Today's the Day the Teddy Bears have their Picnic". That song and the tune has stayed in this ol' head for 55 years. And it still makes me happy! : )
oh I thought maybe you made that poem up Mom!
Nope, not original. Just a happy day with the girls brought the happy song back to mind . . .
