Anniversaries

Birthdays, actually.

Leurene Lucille. 4-27-1923
Benjamin Scott. 4-27-1987

I have wanted for quite some time to get Leurene's (LaRene's) baby dress displayed in a shadow box. I have gotten around and found the shadow box, ordered and received two photos of little LaRene and found some of Gramma Sychra's old crocheting. Today I realized why things were coming together.

Tomorrow would have been Gramma's 86th birthday.
Ben would have been 22.
We will hold them "close" tomorrow and all days.

Urbana, Illinois, here we come!

We will take a day off this coming Friday to leave for Urbana. Fortunately, we will not find weather like this, in May.
We are looking forward to spending time with Kristy and Tony and traveling to the Big City; the Windy City. We might even ride the L. (I always thought it was the "El" short for Elevated but in the 'Net, I find it under "L". )

8 lines, 100 miles of tracks, all color coded.

Later, we might file this trip under "A" for Adventure!

Family Resemblence

There has always been something about Morghan that reminds me of my sister Linda. It is just a glimpse now and then, through the eyes, the brows and maybe the set of her lips. I can see it in this photo. The other evening, Madeline saw a picture of Linda when she was about four years old and Maddie said, I think that is Morghan.
Morghan Grace is a real family person. She loves family get togethers, the Austin Christmas and family reunions. She wants to go to the big Vaughan reunion in West Virginia -- and so do I! We might just load up together and go. Have an adventure. Are there any other takers?
(PS: grandchildren have to be 10 years old to go!)

Adventures at Sea and Foreign Lands

The ol' houseboat sure does make a great playhouse. There's all kinds of room for children and their imaginations on this boat and as along as they will not jump off the front bow nor climb the ladder to the top, Nana is sure going to enjoy their child's play and watch them visit . . .

Foreign Lands
by Robert Louis Stephenson

Up into the cherry tree

Who should climb but little me?

I held the trunk with both my hands

And looked abroad in foreign lands.

I saw the next door garden lie,

Adorned with flowers, before my eye,

And many pleasant places more

That I had never seen before.

I saw the dimpling river pass

And be the sky's blue looking-glass;

The dusty roads go up and down

With people tramping in to town.

If I could find a higher tree

Farther and farther I should see,

To where the grown-up river slips

Into the sea among the ships,

To where the road on either hand

Lead onward into fairy land,

Where all the children dine at five,

And all the playthings come alive.

Freeze Frame

Freeze frame: A vivid, motionless scene or image (dictionary.com)

Freeze frame is also called "Stop Motion" but look at all the action in this Freeze Frame!

Four different scenes, all in the same Play.

There would have been five scenes if my camera would have gotten Jack in there too!

Knock out punch!

These boys were having fun. It looks like Joey got the last punch and was glad of it!

Ever and Ever

Had these two together in March.

Had Audri this morning and Madeline this evening.

Audri has a real affinity for her cousins. All of her cousins. May it ever be so.

and vice versa.

Early Easter

Himself and I had a grandchildren's weekend. Gabby and Joey came down Saturday afternoon and stayed. Audri came over while her Mama worked and late afternoon, Madeline and Morghan came to play while Joey went to Jack's. So Nana enjoyed four busy girls while Joey and Jack had guy time. As the weather was cold, windy and snowy, we all stayed in and had PlaDoh, papers, markers, staples, glue and scissors! Oh my.

This morning, we had an Easter Egg hunt. Upstairs in the big room, but not big enough.

We weren't sure what Audri would think but she soon found a few eggs and then, quick as wink before we realized, she had eaten up about 4 (small) chocolate eggs. Erica asks her what she has. "Chocolate", she says.
